Just a word of advice to y'all, especially you newbies...you gotta have a scale and you gotta weigh your gold, you can't keep score without a scale!
You need a scale that will display ounces, grams, and down to a tenth of a grain.
Why do you need a scale? Because there is no other way to gauge how successful you are, both in the short term, and the long term.
For one thing, if you are buying paydirt or concentrates, you need to be able to compare the value of what you are getting for the money you are spending.
While "value" on the one hand is very subjective and varies from person to person, the spot price of gold is literally the one standard that is available 24 hours a day and changes constantly. It is therefore a simple and easy way to compare the value of the gold you are recovering, accumulating, or selling.
When I did all my reviews of the various gold paydirt providers, I also calculated a ratio of cost to value and then compared those rations to see which one provided the best value, not only from a financial point of view, but also from an esoteric "enjoyment" point of view.
So get yourself a good scale. Make sure it measures down to 1/10th of a grain...and then keep score...start a log book...and takes pictures! :-)
